The resort is situated in the 46-hectare Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Wildlife Park, which fringes the Zambezi River. Victoria Falls is recognised as one of the seven natural wonders of the world, and has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Architecturally, the buildings take their cue from African resonances. The Royal Livingstone Hotel stretches luxuriously along the banks of the Zambezi River. The Hotel consists of a series of 17 colonial-style buildings, with deep verandas, set amidst indigenous trees and plants. The main hotel is a sequence of thatch-roofed buildings, most African in their influence, and incorporates the lounge, restaurant and bar. A classic swimming pool visually links the waters of the river with the terraces of the hotel, with a sweeping timber deck planted in the swirling water of the Zambezi.

The reception area is framed by a classic courtyard featuring a fountain and exuding the aroma of herbs from the interior gardens. Overhead, wooden fans cool the charged atmosphere. The resort's deep, shaded veranda offers an uninterrupted view of the Zambezi River and is the ideal place to curl up with a book discovered in the well-stocked library. The lounge is filled with original artwork depicting scenes of David Livingstone's great African adventures.

Only footsteps from the Zambezi River, the rooms and suites offer a tranquil retreat from the unconstrained beauty of their surroundings. The Royal Livingstone, is a 5-star, 173-roomed luxury hotel. The rooms are two-storey clusters and each cluster comprises approximately 10 en-suite air-conditioned rooms, offering private balconies or terraces. Interior furnishings accentuate the influences of Africa translated into a cultured sumptuousness that reflects the essence of African Bush life. Natural light invades the bathrooms, as the luxurious sized showers allow natural light to filter through a milk-glass window.

The poolside beckons and the service is superior. There are a variety of poolside activities at the Zambezi Sun that encourage guests to venture towards its azure blue depths. The huge free-form pool meanders round a pavilion restaurant and an outdoor bandstand and dance floor. An established group entertain guests with soft jazz, blues and impromptu pop music. The pool deck is also the scene of more formal occasions such as cocktail receptions and alfresco dining.

The Royal Salon - International Hair and Beauty is located adjacent to the reception area of the Royal Livingstone Hotel. Enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the mighty Zambezi River while having a luxurious outdoor body massage or sit back and enjoy the healing power of a magnificent foot massage while relaxing next to the swimming pool. Try any of our internationally renowned hair and beauty services: paraffin wax manicures and pedicures, personalised facials, hair removal, hair care for ladies and gents.

Rhino Safari
Mosi-oa-Tunya Zoological Park boasts five white rhino, various antelope, giraffe, zebra, buffalo, beautiful riverine vegetation, and stunning views of the Zambezi River. Although small by African standards (1600Ha) this increases the chance of seeing game. As well as game viewing, guests will be shown the Old Drift where the original white settlers lived before 1904, the old cemetery and the original crossing point of the Zambezi. The safari lasts two and half-hours and the best times to visit the park are early in the morning or late afternoon when the game is most prolific.

Chobe Botswana
Chobe National Park in Botswana is only 1¾ hour away from Livingstone. This road transfer includes a private boat across the Zambezi River, Customs and Immigration formalities and a ten minute drive into Chobe National Park. The safari begins with a cruise on the Chobe River with refreshments while the boat takes you close up to the waterfowl and wildlife along the river. Flocks of birds, large pods of hippos and crocodiles can be viewed from the safety of the boat. Lunch is served as you travel deeper into Chobe National Park.
After the cruise, guests meet the safari vehicles waiting on the banks. They set off further into the park to find some of the 45,000 local elephants, buffalo herds, sable, wildebeest, giraffe, and with luck, resident lions and hyenas. The game drive meanders its way back to the park gates for the return road transfer and guests arrive back at the hotel by 17h00.

Elephant Back Safari
The park is resident to wild elephant, hippo, buffalo, impala, giraffe, zebra and small cats such as civet and servile. Guests will be able to ride with their guides through the beautiful reverie scenery, a unique experience to interact with this magnificent animal and understand its intelligence and willingness to act under instruction. The ride itself is approximately one hour, the interaction time spent with the elephants approximately three hours.

Horse Trail Safari
One of the finest ways to experience the bush is on horseback. There is a chance to see small game such as bushbuck or duiker, plus hippos and crocodiles along the river, and in the dry season elephants. There is also a wide variety of bird life. All rides are led by experienced riders/guides and all riding abilities are catered for. Guests are taken out on either experienced or novice rides so that everyone in the group is of a similar experience.

Abseil and Gorge Swing
These relatively new activities are operated on a spectacular site above Rapid 7. A safety instructor briefs guests on the area and proper use of equipment before starting. The abseil is 53 metres down fifth gorge under constant supervision. At the bottom there is a track back to the top of the gorge. Guests can also try the "Rap Run", a face down abseil, and the "Flying Fox", "flying" across the gorge on a hire wire attached to a special body harness. The gorge swing is an awesome jump and a serious adrenaline thrill!! After being rigged up with a safety harness, guests step off the edge of the gorge for a three and a half second, 50 metre, free fall before being swung out into the middle of the gorge. All activities can be done as many times as liked throughout the day.

Bungi Jumping
111 Metres of pure adrenaline rush!! African Extreme operates off the Victoria Falls Bridge and has a 100% safety record. Over 50 000 people have committed themselves to the thrill of jumping off this bridge. Challenge the limits of the mind and test the edge of fear by leaping off this impressive bridge, with the Falls behind and the mighty Zambezi below. Ankle and body harnesses are attached separately to clients, after jumping they are winched back onto the bridge. Photographs and video, taken of each jumper, are available for purchase.
